To advance and promote the education of the public in the art, craft and skills of boatbuilding and woodworking and to provide the highest quality training in traditional and modern boatbuilding, joinery and heritage skills that meets the requirements, expectations and aspirations of both individuals and industry.
Aims in partnership with the IBTC college to:
Meet student needs in personal development, support and attainment of high quality transferable skills enabling wider career opportunities for the future.
Exceed industry expectations on the provision of relevant and responsive training and employee skills achievement.
Increase equality of access to inclusive training opportunities supporting diversity amongst the student body and personal progression through the development of skills.
Be a prominent voice in the setting of training standards for boatbuilding and related heritage skills through creativity and excellence in all we do, building on the near 50 year history of the collage as a centre of excellence for boatbuilding training.
Ensure that high-level boatbuilding skills training is recognised and adopted as an essential element of a successful boatbuilding industry and a key contributor to both a thriving community of heritage craft and related heritage buildings.
Promote an overall approach to sustainability that balances and maximises environmental community, social and economic benefits through the planning, structure and delivery of all IBTC training programmes, projects and events.
